EHS consulting services

EHS consulting services cover the full compliance surface of a facility: OSHA safety programs and training, environmental permits and reporting, industrial hygiene exposure monitoring, and the management systems that hold it together. Meridian EHS Partners delivers each as a fixed-fee project or ongoing fractional support.

What is EHS compliance?

EHS compliance means meeting every environmental, health, and safety obligation that applies to your operation — OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910 for general industry, 1926 for construction), EPA rules administered by your state (air permits, stormwater, hazardous waste, chemical reporting), and workers’ compensation requirements. Non-compliance is expensive in three ways at once: OSHA penalties now exceed $16,500 per serious violation and $165,000 per willful or repeat violation, injuries drive premiums up for years, and enterprise customers increasingly audit suppliers’ EHS performance before awarding contracts.

What are the 7 elements of an EHS program?

Auditors and management-system standards (ANSI Z10, ISO 45001, OSHA’s recommended practices) converge on the same core elements:

  1. Leadership commitment and accountability — visible ownership, resourced budgets.
  2. Hazard identification and risk assessment — JHAs, inspections, exposure monitoring.
  3. Legal requirements and written programs — knowing which rules apply and documenting how you meet them.
  4. Objectives, targets, and planning — measurable goals like TRIR and training completion.
  5. Training and competence — role-based, documented, refreshed on schedule.
  6. Incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action — root cause, not blame.
  7. Audit and continuous improvement — scheduled self-checks and management review.

Our free EHS Gap Assessment scores you against all seven, so you know exactly where to start.

Three ways to engage

  1. Fixed-fee project

A defined deliverable — an audit, a permit filing, a program build, a training day — with a written scope and a firm price. Most projects run $3,500–$25,000.

  2. Fractional EHS

A named consultant on-site 2–8 days per month who owns your program: inspections, training calendar, recordkeeping, and metrics. Typically $2,500–$8,000/month.

  3. Staffing & interim

When you need a person, not a project: contract EHS coverage for launches and turnarounds, or direct-hire recruiting for permanent safety roles.

Frequently asked questions

Which service should we start with?

If nothing is on fire, start with the free gap assessment — it tells you which of the seven program elements is weakest and what to fix first. If you have an active OSHA inspection, a citation, or an agency deadline, call (614) 555-0142 and we will start with that.

Do you work on retainer or by project?

Both. Roughly 60% of our clients start with a fixed-fee project (usually an audit) and convert to fractional monthly support once they see the findings list. There is no long-term contract requirement; fractional agreements are 90-day terms.

Can one firm really cover safety and environmental?

That is the point of EHS as a discipline. Our safety practice is led by CSPs, our environmental practice by a PE/CHMM, and our industrial hygiene work by a CIH — the same building, one findings tracker, no coordination overhead billed to you.

Do you serve companies outside Ohio?

Yes. On-site work covers Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia from our Columbus base; program development, audits of multi-site documentation, and fractional support run remotely nationwide.
